Editor’s note:  Most people remote control their home or office computer with VNC or Remote desktop, but those 2 methods have 2 disadvantages: 1. They both needs settings on the host computer and router which might be difficult for users and 2. Some ISP might block the ports (I use 3G for my home computer sometimes, and the ISP has blocked the services). To solve those issues, I use Teamviewer.

Teamviewer is a zero confirgaration remote control program which can break through ISP restrictions.  It is free for non-commercial use.

  1. To download Teamviewer, check here. Choose the right OS version of your computer.
  2. Run the setup program:
  3. Choose “install” and click “Next”:
  4. Choose “personal / non-commercial use”:

  6. After the installation, the main screen should appears and under the “Wait for Session” and the user ID and password will show up, and they are for the client connection:

To connect to the host computer, simply run the teamviewer in the client computer, under the “Create Session”, type into the Session ID and password which obtained from the host computer and click on “Connect to partner”.
